2004, 25HP Tracker, any input?

I've got a shot at buying a 2004, 25 horse Tracker outboard by Mercury. I know nothing about these outboards. Can anyone give me the lowdown? Is it actually a Merc? Why Tracker and not simply Mercury?

That was a decent outboard. The Tracker name was put on there by BPS. It is a 25HP Merc.

I've heard that a Tracker may be a force engine. It couldhave been the older ones though. Anybody know? If it's a force, I'd pass on the deal.

Assuming its not an ancient left over its a Merc.Force went out about 97.
