I ran this motor in the river the 2 weeks ago. We went up river about 7 miles (30 miinute ride) and cut down the canal to go to my camp. the canal was blocked with duckweed/sticks/debris for about 20 yards. I idled through it, but half way across i noticed motor quit peeing, so i killed and paddled across to get in clean water again. I took the hose off and blew in it and a piece of trash shot out. Then reassembled and fired up, peeing real good again and shaft is normal warm temp. I get on plane and 2 minutes later hear an overheat alarm, so kill again and let cool off for 15 minutes. I start back up, no alarm, still peeing good cool water and shaft temp is normal. I get back on plane and was steadily feeling the pee water and it was cold, but alarm goes off again even though peeing cool and strong. I shut down and paddled to camp, mess around ther for 2 hours and go to return home, morot fires right up, still peeing cool and i get on plane, 5 minutes on plane and alarm goes back off. I slow down and idle a while but it is peeing cool/warm (not hot) and shaft is same so i get on plane with alarm going off and open it up wide open for about 4 minutes when alarm quits going off. I rode up river for another hour and the alarm never came back on and the motor ran great. I think it is possible i sucked up a pc. of trash/debris in the thermostat and blew it out when i got wide open, b./c alarm quit going off. I am going to run again next weekend to make sure, but just wanted to what some of you all thought happened to make alarm sound, then quit sounding? thanks
