Hey all -

I have a 2004 Nissan 50hp TLDI. Took it out today for the first time in the water this year. I had run it several times with muffs in the driveway and it cranked fine. Had to deal with a little water in the fuel early today but it got up and running great. Ran it for a few minutes at about 4k rpm and it ran like a top, then slowed it down to check out a friends dock. When I throttled up it started running rough again, so I figured more water getting through system. I shut it down to check the fuel, but no water. When I went to crank it back up, there was nothing. No clicks, cranks....nothing. All the other electrical on the boat works fine. Checked fuses, throttle position...no joy. Could this be an overheat problem? This happened last year and the marina replaced a bad (they say) solenoid. Could this have gone out again? Other ideas? Thanks in advance.

Solved!

It was in the throttle arm. The small switch that prevents you from starting the engine in gear had come loose and was in the "open" position. I found it by taking the housing off and pulling the throttle arm off of the console. Once I placed it back where it belongs, everything works as advertised. One more thing to add to the list of things to check when something goes awry!

Good stuff mate, I'm sure this will help others who have weird problems that no one can seem to figure out

So if I understand your terminology, you had a loose neutral safety switch in the RC box? Is that correct?
