I recently purchased a 2004 CapeCraft Center Console. The boat has a 150 HP Yamaha, 2 Stroke. The Boat will not get on Plane. The Prop is fairly new and I am wondering if the last owner changed the prop to the incorrect one. The current Prop is 14-1/4 x 17. Would anyone know what prop this boat was originally sold with? The boat has no hole shot and will not get on plane even with Trim tabs all the way down. The highest WOT is about 5,000 RPM. I have nothing in the boat at the moment except the anchor. It also has a full tank of fuel. The boat weighs 2,750 pounds.

The Engine seems to be running fine, it fires up immediatley.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is that the actual weight per a scale, or the published dry weight?

If your tabs are all the way down, they may be adding too much drag

Where is your trim during the holeshot?

Have you checked compression on your motor

Are you getting to WOT when under load, or is that in neutral?

2,750 is the boat dry weight. Compression good over 100 in each cylinder. I will try bring trim tabs back up during hole shot. WOT of about 5,000 was underway trying to get on plane. I was hoping to find someone with the same boat to tell me what the boat came fitted with originally.

Any help would be appreciated. I have owned boats for over 30 years and never had this issue. Original owner not being much help.

Thanks

The 100 psi seams really low

Weigh the boat

If you are getting 5000 rpm and it’s not on the plane…something is seriously wrong. Something is slipping or broken badly.
