2004 Chapparal 220

In the process of buying a boat and like this Chapparal but looking at the pictures I noticed there is some rust on the outdrive
looks like from water coming off of intake holes. What would cause this? The owner says he thinks its from leaving out drive in the up position at all times while storing. I just sold my boat and did not have that issue. Also, is it normal to have a yellowish stain just below exhaust? He said it is pretty normal but I would not think so. Looks like an oil stain from maybe over service?
Please advise.

It is hard to tell what things are in the picture. So, you will get a better idea when you see it first hand.

The outdrive itself will not rust, but rust could come from the exhaust.

Best to get a first hand look rather than over speculate.

we need to see where the rust is coming from...

it could be out of the motor....is this a salt boat?

yellowish stains on the gell are not oil that is usually heat.

but lets see the pics for sure.....if you upload to a free service like photo bucket....then you can copy the img tag and put it in your post

Not sure why you cant view the pics. They come up for me. the boat has thru hull cc. out of the side. both sides have a yellow stain just below the exhaust. It may be getting to hot I guess. also both sides of the outdrive have a trickle down rust looking spot coming from the holes.

Can`t see the pics either but it may just be stains from rust inside the exaust manifolds.
