Hi
I am waiting on my manual to arrive for my F75TLR and I am wondering what my engine should idle at. also when shifting to forward or reverse there is a slight grinding noise in lower unit is this normal for Four Strokes?

Thanks Tim

idle speed in N is 850 plus or minus 50 and 750 plus or minus 50 when trolling.
grinding is your shifting to slow, DO NOT baby it into gear, shift quickly and firmly.
99% of all outboards use a mechanical slam shift clutch.
babying them into gear leads to clutch failures.

Thank you,

I adjusted the idle and it shifts allot smoother now but still noise from what I am used to. I have been running 2 stroke outboards for 25 years . I have been told the Yamaha 4 strokes are noisier when shifting and not to worry about it. I am a new 4 stroke owner and am not used to such a quite engine.

Thanks again for you input and knowledge.

Tim
