New to me engine, pulled the carbs for cleaning and found the starboard side intake manifold had a damaged check valve. You can see where the ball was bouncing against the carb base.
The brass cap with the 2 small holes is missing in action.
Is the new check just a press fit? Any specific cause?
I don't see any way for the small brass cap to have been ingested, but only caught the ball when I disassembled.

New check valve arrived, I used a sheet metal screw to pull the old one out. Gently pressed the one in. Hope it stays.

The mixture screws were about 8 turns out. Is this a good starting point?
Fuel bowls were warped and each one had a small crack in the corner, new ones on order.
