Ok this is driving me nuts . The engine runs great when i start it and run it to my fishing spot. It runs awesome wide open. I turn it off and fish then it starts up fine. When i give it gas it bogs down and cuts off . I ran it in the winter (water temp 55 air temp same ) it didnt do this. When it gets warm out it will do this. I had the carbs cleaned two years ago when it did this and the problem was fixed. My Question is , why would it run fine when the engine is cold and at wide open if its the carbs? if the carbs were dirty again wouldnt it do this all the time ? Thanks for your help, because im going nuts !

what have you checked? have you check spark when it is messing up?(yes on the water)? does squeezing the primer bulb help? does pushing in the key and activating the primer make the motor put up speed?

I checked the plugs and they look good. We pumped the ball and that didnt do anything. We just kept trying and after many attempts it will take off. Once running it will run fine. If i prime it, it doesnt do anything. If it was a carb problem wouldnt it do it when the engine was cold ? I was told about gas in the bowl boiling when it gets hot after its turned off ?

Does it have plastic carbs? Sounds like fuel starvation. Check for leaks around your carbs. The plastic ones have had problems with warping. Carb bowls may not be sealing right and allowing fuel to syphon back to your gas tank.

It has plastic carbs. I didn't find any leaks. When I push in the choke when its at idle it kills stalls. Pumping the ball makes it want to stall also. Carbs were cleaned and had a white substance dried to the bottom of the bowls. Even after cleaning it stalls under load when hot.

I have the EXACT same problem happening with my 1996 Johnson 130. It will start up OK (sometimes it is hard to start), but once started it will run great until the engine is warm and I shut it off to fish. When I start it again it will start instantly but if I put in gear and touch throttle it will stall. I have to sit there for up to 10 minutes until it will finally go. I can't even figure out why it finally decides to go again.

HELP:eek:

Hello odde
i just read your post and have a question are you running ethenol fuel if you are try and find some non ethenol fuel i had some of the same problems with my 98 115 intruder but not quit that bad got some non ethenol fuel from a marina and it ran perfectly , it seems the evenrude or jhonson carbed moters dont like the ethenol blended fuels i have been reading a lot of posts with the same symptoms and all the repair work people have done to try and correct the problems , heat when moters are shut off goes up and boils the fuelin the carbs and fuel lines when sitting in the hot sun on the lake when the moter cools the vapor condenSES BACK TO LIQUID ONLY THAN WILL THE MOTER RUN WELL AGAIN.
