Ive got 2004 johnson 90 hp v-4 that has a check engine light and alarm that comes on almost as soon as you start the engine. Tried disconnecting wires coming from fuel pump sensor to see if that caused it to go off. Alarm still sounded. Will disconnecting that plug make the alarm go of if that is the problem or i do i have a problem somewhere else. Also checked out all the fuel connections at the tank and replaced the fuel bulb and checked the fuel filter.

The alarm senders ground when there is a problem. So, if you have a short in teh sender wire (short to ground) the alarm will be continuous, and unplugging the sender will not turn it off.

You need to know what that alarm means. On my '98 Johnny 150HPV6, Check Engine means a gasoilne restriction. The '98 90HP V4 models did not have that alarm.
