Hey all, new to the forums and boating in general...
I have a 75 merc on the back of my 24' Pontoon... It runs great, starts great and idles great... the only question I have is the oil reservoir... I notice that every couple of times out I have to add a pint of oil... I use Mercury 4 stroke outboard oil... Is this normal? Should I have the motor checked out?

Thank you...

I think the ELPO is 2 stroke, the oil resovor is for TWO STROEK oil and it consumes it as the engine runs. Drain immediately and refill with proper oil and hope you didnt damge it.

What you need to do immediately is stop using the boat. Drain that oil out of the resevoir and refill it with 2-STROKE oil which will have the type number TCW-III on the label. You have a two stroke engine not a four stroke like your car. The engine mixes the oil with the fuel and it is consumed so you MUST keep that resevoir at least 1/4 full or more at all times. Failure to do so will result in a severe dent in your wallet due to a destroyed engine. I also suggest you do some reading on the internet about the difference between a two stroke and four stroke engine.
