I am in the market for a cruiser in the 24-27 foot range. I am very close to purchasing a 2006 Chaparral 240. But tonight say a virtually new (25 hour) 2004 Monterey 265. I will do a survey before buying, but wanted to run this by you 1st.

Any thoughts on this model? Or Monterey in general?
The boat is in immaculate condition and has all the bells/whistles (Volvo duo prop 300hp, air cond/heat, radar arch, windlass, etc.)

Dealer is asking $49,000. I believe I can get it for $45,000.

Thoughts?

Re: 2004 Monterey 265 - Any Opinions?

Well, I love my 24' Monterey bowrider. It is one of the best handling and riding boats that I have driven. Mine is a 2001 so it is a few years older. I would definately recommend the brand to anyone who would listen. On the other hand, can't go to far wrong with the Chap either. Mine has Merc power with a B3 drive, never owned a Volvo so can't comment on that.

Thanks for the prompt feedback. I've owned 2 boats in the past and have always liked the look of Monterey boats from a distance. But just don't hear a ton about them. Hopefully I'll get some more feedback here.
