I just bought this boat, and took it out today and it ran perfectly. But it took on a little water..
It's a 2004 tracker guide v16 boat.. It is the base model with a 06 mercury 25hp tiller motor. And it is all riveted..

It probably took on about a gallon, not a ton, in a little over a hour of running down the mississippi river... I could easily get a bilge pump, but i would prefer to stop the leaking..

Any ideas how to proceed?
Thanks guys
Jason

Post pics of your boat so we can see what you have to work with.

Riveted boats are easier to work on than most people think.

The first thing you'll need to do is perform a leak test, put the garden hose in the boat and fill it with several inches of water. Then look underneath the boat for water leaking out and mark the leaks.

If you have leaking rivets you can fix them like this:

If you have leaking seams you can apply Gluvit or Coat-it to the inside of your boat at the seams to stop them from leaking.

If you have a crack in the hull you can patch it on the inside or outside.

Find where your boat is leaking and then get back to us and let us know what it is.

Jasper, you should be able to look for damaged rivets on a creeper, take your time and look the bottom over good for some deformed heads that may have suffered an impact. That new of a boat shouldn't have a bunch of loose leaky rivets, most likely the PO hit something and caused some damage on the hull. Your pretty much stuck then drilling them out, add 5200 and put in a closed end blind rivet.

Did you fill or run the livewells? If so check the plumbing for them. Also check for cracked plastic through the hull fittings while your at it.

You should really think about putting in a bilge pump for safety reasons even after repairing the rivets.
