Is there a way to check the hours of an engine in a boat that does not have an hour meter? In other words, could the hours be stored on some chip inside the motor?

Thanks

Why, in 2005, would a boat manufacturer not install an hour meter? Certainly there's got to be something in the ECU that accumulates the hours?

I'm a little confused about YDIS versus YDS. It this what I need?

Ah, I see now.
Yamaha calls their software program "YDIS",
but when you run that software, connected to an engine,
Yamaha calls that "using YDS"

makes perfect sense.
