I have

Checked Kill Switch and unplugged from motor harness No spark
Unplugged all CDMs than plugged in one at a time verify resistance rise each one.
Ohms check stator grn/wht to wht/grn books says 380 to 420 I got 212
Cranking voltage stator book says no less than 100 I got 50
Checked Trigger 1100 to 1400 ohms got 1210
Checked shift switch good
Unplugged voltage regulators no spark
Unplugged ICM from harness and connect trigger to CDM harness No spark.
I think I have ruled out what ever I could is it time to say it is the stator?
Has to be the most expensive part right.

If I missed something please correct me this is my first try at this outboard stuff.

Where you using a DVA meter or DVA adaptor for the voltage tests following the directions in the CDIElectronics Ignition Troubleshooting Guide?

Double check the guide, verify your test results as there is NO RETURN on electrical parts.

I could be wrong, but........... I thought the CD system stator had separate stator coils for each CDM. That a stator failure would only lose spark on one cdm. The common part to all CDM's is the 'kill' wire. Unplug all CDM's and test the black W/yellow kill wire for ANY continuity to ground. Any short to ground on the motor harness will kill spark from all CDM's.

I checked the kill wire from the harness to ground with all cdm unplugged. Than plugged them back in one at a time and looking for a short.
I gained a little resistance but only a little.
I do not have a DVA meter and could not get a reading on my digital meter. But my analog meter showed less than 50v cranking on ac.
I also unplugged all the spark plugs wires and used a spark gap tester one at a time looking for one to have spark.

All the shops are booked here doing winter storage and I can't get in to get checked.

Specification is peak voltage, so an RMS voltmeter (yours) won't work for it. Probably about 40% low on that test, so yer still out of the park.

If the starter is dragging, or the battery is weak and the engine is not turning over briskly, you won't get a spark. All of the power for the spark is generated by the stator. None comes from the battery.

hope it helps

Re: 2005 150 2 stroke carbed No Spark

I have 2 good batteries with full charge on them.
The motor turns over good.
I was hopping to rule some things out before I buy parts.
Should I buy a DVM meter or adaptor?

This spring I thought I had a stator problem because the motor would start hard and idle for crap even after running it at temp. If I shout it off for 10 min it would crank for ever.
I decarbed it cleaned the bowls and the jets.
Put new clamps on the fuel lines and new filters.
After new fuel it all seamed good. Would start as soon as it hit the key. Many trips this summer all good.
Than last trip out it started hard again I did not shut it off because I trolled all day (first time trolling this year) motor ran good even ran 8 miles back to ramp at 4000rpms
The next trip out it would not start at the ramp and at home I can not get it spark.
If its not the stator where to look?

A DVA meter or DVA adapter is necessary to properly test and troubleshoot your ignition.

Direction to build your own adapter can be found here.

http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=374544

As John pointed out, the stator generates all electricity for the ignition, there is a minimum cranking speed of 300 RPM required. Poor battery cable connections, solenoid contacts, starter brushes, can cause slow cranking speed and create hard to start and 'no spark' conditions, often a gradual decrease in cranking speed is not even noticed until starting problems occurs.

You need a DVA adapter to test this as posted earlkier. Below is troubling shooting steps from CDI...

No fire at all:
1. Inspect the flywheel outer and trigger magnets to see if they are loose or broken.
2. Check resistance from white/green to green/white wires. You should read 600 -700 ohms. Check resistance from white/green and green/white wires to engine ground. There should be no reading with the wires disconnected.
3. DVA (peak voltage) test stator output from white/green to green/white wires. It should be 180v or more with the wires connected to the CDM modules. If low disconnect the CDM's and retest DVA output,if reading stays low-the stator is bad. If reading is within spec(180-400V disconnected) at least one of the CDM modules is defective.
4. Disconnect the rectifier/regulator and retest. If the fire returns, replace the rectifier/regulator.

OK
I did the test with DVA and got 67v at cranking
I pulled the flywheel stator looks OK
Trigger looks OK
I will order a new stator
Should I put an OEM Merc on it?
Wow $550

Thanks for the help all.
I got my new stator did the install and motor fired right up.

I did see some melting comming out of one of the windings on the old stator.

Thanks
Jim
