2005 15hp 2 stroke remote to tiller conversion..Whats Wrong????

So I bought a 2005 15hp 2 stroke that was originally a tiller and the previous owner converted it to a remote steer. When I bought it it had all the parts to go back to tiller so I switched it back(prelly involved by the way). We took it out for the first time and it won't rev past probably 3000rpm's. What should I look for? It truly seems to be together correctly. I am just wondering about the syncing of the carb/timing. Any suggestions would be great, and even a picture of the linkage side of a 9.9/15 would be awesome.
