When running my 2005 Mercury outboard between 2000 and 3000 rpm, the engine will suddenly lose power and stall out even if I increase the throttle. The only way i keep the engine running when it starts to decelerate is by squeezing the primer bulb to restore the speed. I have changed all 3 spark plugs, fuel filter, new fuel hose from gas tank to fire wall and from fire wall to engine. I suspect it may be a clogged screen filter at the bottom of the vertical suction line in the built in gas tank. Any comments? Is there a trick to removing the vertical tubing to get at the filter screen?

You ever find the problem here. Same crud going on with my 2009. I replaced the tank, fuel hoses and fittings, rebuilt the fuel pump, and replaced the fuel filter. Nothing changed. I took it to the shop. They said I had a bad fuel fitting. I said ok I guess that the one I bought could be bad. Took it out today and same problems.
