2005 50 hp back fires

When it back fires it has a puff of smoke from around the flywheel would that be a bad flywheel seal or something else

It is a 2 stroke

That is a lean condition and cause a internal crankcase pop. Cause by carb issues or seal. These are know to come loose..

Since it's up by the flywheel do you think I should pull the flywheel to check that seal
