This is the same motor as Suzuki DF9.9 and DF15 and I am trying to get input from owners. I bought a new Suzuki DF9.9 in box, August 2006. Vibrates like crazy at some throttle settings and fairly smooth at others. (This is NOT a propeller problem!) Loose items in boat resonate along with the motor! Fuel line has vibrated free twice! Two authorized Suzuki dealers have witnessed this problem but Suzuki says the motor is running according to specs. (Suzuki would not pay one dealer for replacing the flywheel when trying to troubleshoot the problem.) The Suzuki Product Brochure advertises this to be a "smooth running and vibration free" motor. IT IS NOT! Suzuki Customer Service denies there is a problem but will not comment on the brochure advertisement. I believe this is the same motor as the Johnson 9.9/15, so maybe Johnson owners could comment? Thanks!!!

Did anyone do a compression check? Did anyone do a spark check? Did anyone check cam timing?

...Thanks for responding Sivertip!

...don't know about that ...assume (ass-u-me) that the "authorized dealer" did, but don't know for sure ...invoice (for warranty work which Suzuki would not pay) indicated over $500 work including flywheel replacement ...requiring the other work you mentioned? ...problem is, Suzuki is NOT interested in my problems... just TRY to speak to a Suzuki tech rep! HA! HA!

...regards, bb

I understand the lack of concern and the frustration it can cause. There are lots of causes for vibration but the checks I mentioned are easy to do and quickly lays to rest a missfire causing the problem. Bent drive shaft or prop shaft are possibilities as well.

thanks again RA Silvertip!

Have written VP of Suzuki America in charge of marine products... will see if he has any interest.

Regarding the causes of vibration you mentioned, one has to find an interested, as well as qualified "Authorized Dealer" to pursue those items... did I mention knowledgeable?

Regards, BB

sounds like motor mounts

...which is REALLY funny because it brings us full circle to the product brochure from Suzuki which says:

"...a re-designed mounting system which provides smooth and quiet running that is vibration free." ... HA, HA, HA, HA, HA! ...great, isn't it?!
