2005 Merc 50 question

I've found one of these for my pontoon project boat, owner says they have 25 hours on it, and have upgraded to a 90hp. They are asking 3500.00 for it with all rigging. Sounds like a decent deal, but I'm not familiar with Mercury engines...should this be a good engine...or are there known quirks/problems?<br />Thanks!<br /><br />Snal~

i have a merc 60 horse jet cost a lot more than that and it has been a reliable motor starts well lots of power i have a water pressure gauge that i installed so i dont have to watch the pee hole all the time.<br />im from canada and a new merc 50 runs about 6000.00 allso i see more mercs on the river than any others
