I replaced the water pump on my motor and once fired back up, have water coming from an unusual place. This is a "new to me" boat and motor, so please excuse the dumb question!

Should cooling water exit anywhere besides the telltale? I get a weak stream from there, but I also have water exiting in a strong stream near the trim plate on the right forward side of the motor. I'm guessing the water tube seal was bad (not replaced) but am not certain if this is normal?

Thanks!

Put up a pic. A lot of motors have that happen especially on muffs it is usually the drain hole for the lower unit, and is normal.

Only a wee bit of water goes out the telltale !----Water exits in many places below the water line.

had the same symptom on my merc 50 after new water pump kit install. Kit had included a water tube seal that was a wee bit too short, SOME water made it up the engine to tell tale, most out the side. My model seemed to use both kinds, depending on year serial production date.(i dropped original in to the water, so had no reference) I hunted online and found the longer one, and it fixed everything.
