My starboard side engine just recently became hard to start. When I turn the key if I wait 3-4 seconds and start it it starts normal. but if I wait more than about 30 seconds it will not start. It seems as if the fuel rail is not staying pressurized for very long at all after the high pressure fuel pump spins up.
I have read that the fuel rail should stay pressurized for 5 minutes after the High pressure pump pressurizes the rail.
Can someone please tell me what part keeps that pressure from just back flowing immediately? Fuel Regulator??
Does the fuel pressure regulator act as a unidirectional valve?
So far I have replaced the
1. Low Pressure Pump
2. Low pressure filter
3. squeeze bulb
4. High Pressure Pump
5. Water Separator
6. Thermostat (unrelated)
Thanks in advance.
