I'm going to look at an 05 tahoe 195 with the 4.3 tomorrow. I have a family of 4, I love to fish and my wife loves to cruise. Anyone out there with one that hates it? It seems like the perfect family boat that will still allow me to go out on my own, or with a buddy, and do some fishing. Any reason why I shouldn't buy it if the price is right? Anything important I should be looking for? It's will be my first boat purchase too. Thanks.

My buddy has a tahoe and loves it. Its about a foot longer than that one, and has the fuel injected 4.3. Its a nice boat. If the layout works for you, then its a matter of the condition the boat is in.

The internet is your friend. I would recommend Googling to see the issues Tahoe has. They are not known for a quality boat.

Well I bought it! I've heard about some the issues with tahoe but the boat seems to be in great shape. It cranked right up....and turned off. Everything seemed to be in order. I can't bring it home till next week but I'm happy. Thanks.

I think you hit the nail on the head. As long as you are happy with your purchase then nothing else matters now does it. I have a 2005 Tahoe Q6 SF and love it because you get a lot of boat for the money but the one thing I will tell you is that I put up with wandering and constant oversteering on the front end for almost 5 years until I stumbled on this site and read about smart tabs. I installed these on my boat and they are phenominal! Stopped the wandering and time to plane is just a few seconds now. You didnt mention the model of your boat Q4 or Q6? It was the best 100.00 I've spent on the boat and the steering and handling of the boat is as if it is a different boat now. For the better of course!! Do a search on Tahoe Smart tabs installation and you should see several posts including mine. Excellent investment that I would recommend to anyone buying a Tahoe.

I've always been impressed with the look of the Tahoes. I have also heard and read that they are not a quality boat, but people also say that about Bayliner and Larson so I think it all comes down to personal experience.

I would consider a Tahoe if I were somehow ever looking for another IO.

Sure would be great to see a pic or two of the Smart Tab Installed on a Tahoe 195. The rear end is different than the Tahoe Q's.

Nice boats. I would take what I read off the internet with a grain of salt. If they were junk, they would soon be out of business in todays market. I think a lot of people buy a "budget" boat and expect the same quality as a $70,000 boat. Kind of like buying a Chevy and then complaining that it doesn't have the quality and fit and finish of a Mercedes.

Re: 2005 tahoe 195?

i've got a 2010 Tahoe 195, and my family and i LOVE IT. The boat is all fiberglass so nothing to rot, its got a mercruiser which is standard to most all boats, and the complains you'll hear are typically about loose screws/fasteners and cheap latch hardware.

My smart tabs just arrived, so i'll have pics up of the install this weekend. I've got the 4.3 too and its plenty of power.
