Wondering how hard it is to add a temp gauge to this engine? I'm thinking by looking at the wiring harness diagram that it already has a wire in the harness for it.

So, does that mean the sensor is already there and all I need to do is hook up the guage?

Will any gauge work? Or does it have to be from Merc?

Thanks!

Any should work as long as it lists as Mercury outboard compatible. My Merc uses a Faria Temperature gauge. It's not called a thermostat. That is something totally different.

Sorry just fixed it, yea temp gauge, not thermostat! LOL Guess I was thinking about the thermostat in the house! LOL

Yes I know what the thermostat is and what it does.

What does everyone run? Water pressure, or temp, or both?

I have neither right now. Makes me nervous as hell. What happens if the thermostat sticks, or something blocks the pee hole, water pump shoots craps? You don't know sometimes til it's too late I'm guessing.

What about oil pressure?
