2006 Four Winns H200 with Volvo Penta sx 5.0L mpi 270hp not reaching top speed??

Hi there everyone i just looked at a 2006 four winns H200 with the volvo 5.0L v8 and its not reaching top speed. it only goes 40-43 mph at 3500 rpm with the hammer all the way down!! it only has 82 hours on it. there is lots of algae on the bottom and on the out drive, the engine oil is overfilled,its running on last years gas and i think it has the wrong pitched prop. could these reasons be why its not reaching top speed. if someone could help me out that would be wonderful i just don't want to purchase a boat with problems. the engine bay is clean and i looked over the motor and it seems fine and idles fine.

Ayuh,... Those are All potential Problems...

ok thanks Bond-o i think im going to have the guy clean it and put the right amount of oil in and than take it for another ride

When I bought mine last year, it had a lot of growth on the bottom also and would barely go 40mph. I cleaned it all off and it helped, but this biggest problem I had was the distributor cap was badly corroded. After changing it and the rotor button, then it runs much better. If you are doing 40 to 43 mph with only 3500 rpm, then I would say the pitch is wrong. I show about 45mph at about 4500 rpm.

You might want to try a different tach, 43 at 3500 seems a bit high. What pitch is the prop?

thank you guys for all your input but i have decided to pass on the deal just to many things to go wrong when im spending alot of money like that
