Have a 60/40 Jet that idles and runs midrage fine, but at WOT it runs great for about 20 secs., then sometimes surges and rpms drop to about 3000 and back up again. If I back off the throttle it will usually go to WOT again, but then contimues to surge.
Occasionally, it will not exhibit this surge and will run fine.
The carbs have been removed, soaked, and blown out. Has new fuel. Fuel filter has been replaced. Squeezing fuel bulb does not change symptom.
I can't determine if this is a fuel or ignition issue. When it happens, It cuts out quickly, so it seems like a coil intermittently failing. (or something similar).
Has anyone experienced this? Can anyone suggest how to approach this?
