I have a 2006 Merc 90ELPTO on a Tracker V18 with the factory tachometer that I purchased recently.
The issue I am having is with the tach. When I switch the key on, the tach zeroes. When I turn to start, it briefly registers a reading and then immediately goes to zero.
Increasing RPMs does not affect it - just keeps reading zero, but always initially shows a reading before starting.
Because of an apparent overheating issue with the regulator, I just replaced it with an OEM reg, and the result is the same.
The battery is charging properly and the engine runs very well.
I am leaning toward a bad tach, but am asking if anyone has had a similar issue and what the resolution was.
Thanks!
