i'm the new owner of a 2007 Mako 212 with a 2006 Mercury 225 4 stroke with 400 hours on it. I've looked online trying to figure out if there's any issues or problems with this engine but couldnt find much about it. Other than following OEM maintenance intervals and changing engine oil and filter, lower unit oil is there anything else that needs done? Anything else that fails prematurely or needs changed ahead of time?

Yes, change the water pump impeller every year.for starters.
Get a fuel water seperator if you dont have it already, change the filter everyyear.
Make sure your steering is fully retracted in before you pump marine grease in it. grease all other fittings.
Change the on motor fuel filter every year, new seals for the lower unit gear lube.new engine oil filter.
Remove your fuel injectors and make a adaptor like you tube shows how explains, clean the injectors every year
Get new fuel injector filters.every year.
Clean the vapor separator tank, and the filter/screen on the high pressure fuel pump.
Make sure the cam timing belt isnt cracked or shreded.
remove your t-stat put in 140F and higher does it open then close in cold water?
Adjust your valves if its easy and not buckets,if you have to remove your cams to adjust your valves dont do it.
We have a 1984 Mako 224 CC with twin 115hp four stroke EFI. We think this boat is a beast, best boat on earth what do you think?
Four strokes absolutely will not run on old gas, pump it out a dispose of it correctly please,

Is this a Verado supercharged motor. They are good motors if they were taken care of. They are also overweight and very thirsty motors. You will be tied to the dealer
