So after rigging my 150 with this control (Yamaha 704) with the correct adapters I now seem to have a bottom end issue. Engine ran fine for 14 hrs then developed at tick in the bottom end which continued to get worse at 1500rpm. It was suggested to me that the throw on the Yamaha control didn't fully engage the forward gear which has lead to some grinding.which is what I hear (not fully engaged slipping)..what is the clutch dog? I have some tiny filings on the magnet and will flush the lower end and refill, I'm going to install a merc binnacle but it looks like the throw is the same, 3". Anyone have any input to this scenario? Not sure if I have %#@&^ up the leg. I can't make sense of how the gearing works by looking at a schematic.....help!

Ok, found out about clutch dog, when I disconnected the cable and fully engaged the shifter into forward in the engine, I can basically stand on the prop, feels like clutch dog is engaging and solid....we'll see with a water test......
