2006 Suzuki DF6 - oil in water, fouled plugs - Please help!

I just bought this and though seller claimed it was just broken in, I'm having some alarming problems with this "new" motor:

-Smokes quite a bit until it's warmed up.
-Lots of sludgy, black oil in water.
-Fouled spark plugs.
-When giving full throttle (from idle) the engine dies.

Any suggestions as to what might be wrong and ways to troubleshoot?

Photos of spark plug, oil sludge & video of it running here:

Thanks!

How old is fuel.
what ratio oil and what kind of oil are you running
Break in usually calls for extra oil.
Did you get the owners manual with it to read up on the motor needs.
You need to pick up a service manual for it also if you plan on keeping it for any time

I would check the compression first.

no need to double oil a DF its a four stroke.
did the engine ever lay down on its side?

Gas is new and mixed with Sta-Bil. Just changed plug, engine & gear oil.

With regards to laying it down, yes I did. For about an hour, tiller side down on the way home from the seller's house.

Checked the owner's manual and a photo shows the correct way to transport is tiller side down, resting the motor head on something that elevates it a bit.

I did not elevate it, just laid down flat. :(

Do you think some oil just leaked into the cylinder and needs to burn through?

Or have I inadvertently caused permanent damage to the engine?

Thanks for your help guys.

Took it out for an hour at full-throttle and the oil is now gone and spark plug looks perfectly normal.

I'm believe the previous owner stored the motor upside down and engine oil leaked into the cylinder.

Problem solved. Thanks for the suggestions. :D

no problem,

just be careful, if it happens again that it potentially can hydrolock and bend the connecting rod.
oil is not compressible.
take the plug(s) out and crank it over for a while.
drain carburator and check the oil level.

Sound like oil in the combustion chamber. Remove spark plug and crank engine by rope to see if oil comes out. If so, engine was layed on wrong side or prop was above power head allowing oil to by-pass piston rings and fill up combustion chamber. Should run fine after oil is removed.
