whomever did the last tune up on my boat torqued the distributor cap screws way too tight. When I took the screws out, one of the ears that contains the threads on the distributor cracked. It is not broken, and I think I could just put a nut and bolt through the hole after reaming it out a bit, just not sure if this is a bad idea. Do you have to pull the distributor to replace the base piece and is it really needed, or can I just pick up a small stainless nylock nut and bolt. want to fix it right but don't want to rip the motor apart either. Also cannot believe that the base of the distributor is plastic.
