My dad's boat was smashed by his falling carport in a windstorm this spring. His boat has been repaired to like new condition via his friendly insurance company and the local marine shop. The only part that is missing for a complete makeover is the top cowling for his 2006 9.9 Yamaha kicker. He has been told by the marine shop that they cannot find a replacement. They state that his motor is rare. It is basically a detuned 15 hp model. Is this true? Did they make two versions of 9.9's in 2006? If so, any ideas on where to locate a replacement cover for his motor?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Apparently the boat shop has tried the Ebay approach. They even bought a cover that was supposed to fit, but didn't.He has been forced to fish with a duct tape patch. :fish2:

They're $325 new. If you can positively ID what you need by part number, they come up from time to time for around $100. I have a '94 9.9. I have to order the rubber cowl gasket because that cowl rattling around sounds like a rod knock!

The model is F9.9MLH2. I have looked and this seems to be an oddball. Most of the sites I have looked at state that it is out of stock. Does anyone have this engine? What makes it differrent from other 9.9s made in 2006? Does amyone know if a 15hp cowling will interchange?
