I am looking at the above referred to boat as my first motor boat. Anyone has had any experience with it that she/he would like to share? My plan is to use it in sea water just to spend the day under the sun, skying et al, maybe even try to reel a fish. Thanks for your comments.

If there is local support for the technology (waverunner engines, etc), it can be a great way to boat.

These boats are hugely popular in areas where I boated. The technology is hard tested, since it is waverunner/jetski technology.

Like all boats, it will be YOU that determines how well it does:

Upkeep, flushes, etc. Familiarize yourself with common issues and look for them. All boat types have common issues unique to their configuration

Can't leave it in water (wet slip) no matter what. It must be dry docked! That is a consequence of these engines/drives.

Keep up with maintenance, etc.

Again, the engines/drives are hard-tested in numerous water craft, and the boats get good reviews. Few friends have 'em and love 'em.

They are twin engines, so keep that in mind.

Re: 2006 yamaha sx230 bowrider

Thanks Philster:
I was planning to keep it in salt water for a three-four month period. There is no way I can dock it dry ($$$$) after every weekend use, due to facilities where I live (south coast in Lima - Peru). Lots of wave runner/jetski down here (and Yamaha dealers) so the technology should have support (i?ll check anyway). If I can't get it out of water every weekend, this is a no-no buy?
Please elaborate on "they are twin engines, so keep that in mind".

twice the headache in maint., but also a safety benefit. if one engine goes down while your out, ya still get home on the other engine.

You CANNOT wet slip them. It's a high 'n' dry boat or a trailer boat. Big Boatel operations sell them to keep their storage racks full of boats (sell a Yamaha and you get a rack customer).

There is no argument here. When done, it comes out of the water and gets flushed and sits high and dry until you use it again. Options are boat lifts, trailers, rack storage... anything that let's you pull it, flush it and protect it until the next outing.

In any event, if you want to use the type of boat we are discussing, you can't leave it in the water.

It?s clear enough now. Thread closed I guess!!!
Same prob. with inboards? or can they stay moored in saltwater and be flushed after every weekend use?

Inboards can sit in the water darn near forever. Otherwise, people would have a hard time with most of the 30'+ cruisers out there.
