Hi Guys, on my '07 4.3 I went to the boat ramp, started her up and ran for 20 minutes and turned the engine off. Tried to start her up 10 minutes later and all I heard was 1 click, but... coming from the trim relay by the carburetor. I've cleaned every wire connection, replaced the trim relay, starter, and 90 amp battery terminal fuse. I discovered 2 solenoids by the trim pump, is that the slave solenoid? Will those solenoids affect start up if they go bad? Thank you!!!

You said by the carb, which it should look like this

Slave Relay 89-96054T.jpg

And there should just be one. Down by the trim pump there are also 2 of the above ones which are the same and are trim relays. The trim relays have nothing to do with a motor starting

@Stormin Norman C

The starter and the trim pumps use the same relays. The trim pump has 2 of them and therre is 1 for the starter. It sounds like you need to replace the starter relay. (right?)

I've searched for another solenoid and can't seem to locate it, wonder if it was removed when I had my carbs rebuilt, there are 2 leads that don't go on anything. I'll take a pick. Thank you Sir!

OK, new style slave relay. We always like serial numbers so we know exactly what were working on

Take that to the local auto parts store and have them get you one
Or can search for "Mercruiser 882751"

That looks like just a standard auto SPDT fuel pump/whatever relay. But problem could be with the starter, starter solenoid, wiring. Go through the troubleshooting first in the stickies. Or don't, it's a $5 part that takes 30 seconds to swap...

That is a new part, guess it could be bad or something shorting it out?

Then it would appear that you wasted $5 and 30 seconds.

Ok, then with key turned to start wiggle the shifter back and forth slightly. If it cranks then its the neutral safety or its adjustment

Shouldn't be any power to the relay with an open NS switch, so no click.

Agree, if its open or has a bad connection. The NS switch connects the yellow/red wire from the start side of the key switch thru the NNS to the start relay. The switch closes when in neutral so its safe to start
