My parents are looking at buying a 2007 Four Winns H210 bowrider (shown in the pictures).

Because it is a large amount of money, I thought I would get some opinions or comments on this boat.

They are stepping up from a 1997 Bayliner 18? with a merc 4.3.

It is my understanding that this boat has a 5.0L with fuel injection.

One other thing that I noticed was the outdrive. It appears to be silver in color which my limited experience usually means a Volvo outdrive. Is this correct?

1. Is Volvo better or worse than a merc outdrive?

The boat is a demo model. It has 25 hours on it. Seems like a great way to save a few bucks.

2. Anyone ever take advantage of lower price for a demo model?

3. Is there anything else that we should know about prior to purchasing the boat?

4. How does $32,000 sound for price?

Thank you for any advice or information,
-Matt

nice boat, same class as the bayliner, but a step up in size and hp. better outdrive system, imho. 5.0 should handle it nicely. i never buy a brand new boat, always let someone else take the showroom depreciation. looks like a pretty good deal.

I would contradrict Tashasdaddy on one point. Four Winns is at least two rungs up the ladder from Bayliner. Go to a boat show and look at both within the same mindset and you will see drastic differences. I just did this a couple of weeks ago. Four Winns have a much better fit and finish. They also have a much better quality on standard equipement and fittings. Bayliners are fine boats for the price point they are in. Four Winns is a lot better boat for a little bit more money.

The H210 is an especially nice boat and has a great look to it. I personally don't care for the side graphics. I think it makes the boat look less elegant and cheaper. That is just personal preference though.

Where will the boat be used?

Nice looking boat. I agree that Tashdaddy tends to put Bayliner in a higher class than most; 4 Winns is considered a noth or two better made boat, especially compared to 1997 Bayliner workmanship.

That's a pretty big boat for a 5.0 isn't it? Fuel injected so so extra hp I guess. I'd want a 5.7 myself, but I guess it depends on what it's primary uses are. Sometimes the leftover "demo" boats are the underpowered ones folks test drove and determined they need a size up in engines. I'm not saying this is the case for that boat, just alerting you. I'd like to test drive it with a full load before buying it.

Again, it may be plenty of engine, I'm just not sure. My guess is the 5.0 is the smallest offered for that boat and a larger option was available, correct?

I like Four Winds. They seem like good quality to me. The Volvo sterndrive has a cone clutch which is very smooth when shifting which can't be found in the Merc at this size. Go for it but make sure they wash it before delivery.

nice lookin boat. i'd kinda wonder if the fuelie 5.0 in a 21' boat would have the same gumption as yer 18' 4.3.... probably be a bummer to have less performance than yer old boat... unless performance isn't critical to you....
i would be concerened about them 25 hrs too.... a demo? i think i'd call it used. hopefully the price reflects that...... also, i'd be concerened that the previous owner broke it in proper. if a demo.... how do you think they broke it in... wot? maybe, maybe not... as for the volvo. i hear nothing but good about that... maybe even better than mercruiser.... the drawback would be is there a volvo dealer to service it near you... in my neck of the woods, there's not........ good luck on your decision......

I would check a couple of things:

- Was it winterized properly, I seewhat looks like ice on the trailer fender. It might be dirt, in that case I would wonder why the boat is not cleaned up for sale?
- When does the warranty start, most boat manufacturers state the warranty begins when a demo boat goes in the water, not when you buy it, this could cause you to lose a year of warranty.
- I think the price is a little high. We pick up our fully loaded 22', 2008 Chaparral on Sunday for only $800 more. I think you have plenty of negotiation room. At least get add ons like extended warranty, bimini, coast gaurd kit, anchor, etc if the price is firm.

- Vovlo as two 5.0 engines - a 220hp Carb and a 270hp Fuel injected, I would check this as well.

- What was the "new" price for the boat.

Do some research online to find comparible boats in your area to get a feel for what people are selling these boats for. Remember, it is a buyers market with the economy. Most dealers need every sale they can get.

It is a sharp looking boat and will provide loads of enjoyment. A good step-up from their current size.

If it is fuel injected like you said, then plenty of power. Is that a DuoProp? If so, the hole shot will be waaaaay better than you are used to. If it is an SX it will still be decent.

My only negative comment is I don't want any black (or any seriously dark color) interior inserts. Even on the sun lounge . . . Depending on where you boat, that can literally cause burns. Other than that, sweet ride :) Have a nice Summer!!

... agreed that some manufacturers only consider 10 hours or less on non registered boats to be new. i don't know the "demo" lingo and how it affects warranty. also good tip on looking for actual new boats of that model year or even 06' and see the close out deals they may offer. that gives you bargaining room for a counter offer. its a good looking boat otherwise!

Must be within the dealer garage section since you can see a Four Winns poster on the first pic.

But your on to something. With all the white dust on the boat and trailer. Was there in fact fiberglass work done on this "new" boat?
