My parents are looking at buying a 2007 Four Winns H210 bowrider (shown in the pictures).

Because it is a large amount of money, I thought I would get some opinions or comments on this boat.

They are stepping up from a 1997 Bayliner 18? with a merc 4.3.

It is my understanding that this boat has a 5.0L with fuel injection.

One other thing that I noticed was the outdrive. It appears to be silver in color which my limited experience usually means a Volvo outdrive. Is this correct?

1. Is Volvo better or worse than a merc outdrive?

The boat is a demo model. It has 25 hours on it. Seems like a great way to save a few bucks.

2. Anyone ever take advantage of lower price for a demo model?

3. Is there anything else that we should know about prior to purchasing the boat? What is standard warrranty if any?

4. How does $32,000 sound for price (it does come with an aluminum fold down ski tower?

Any information and help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
-Matt

They sure won't be disappointed with a Four Winns. Mine is a 1986 with 650 hours. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. Like suggested though disclose your Location. A new one is always better than a used one when the price is the same. At least that would give your parents would have some leverage to deal on the used one.

Merc v. Volvo is like Chevy v. Ford with one exception: in some parts of the country it can be difficult to find a dealer.

For example, I boat in Central Missouri and it can be very difficult to find a Volvo dealer down there. So, for me, Merc is better.

That price sounds high to me. I just bought a 2007 220H for roughly $40K and it had the 350MPI and a Merc Bravo III outdrive.

Yea, I would say check on the price. I just picked up a new 2007 H240 for 43k. Bravo 3, merc 350MPI. Good luck

I don't know if I'm too late but....

I purchased a new 2007 220 Horizon last August with a retail over $49K at the end-of-the-year sale and paid $32K for it. I didn't do any hard negotiation, in fact, the dealer had sold the other 2 in stock 220 Horizons on Saturday before I went up on Sunday to look at all 3 and decide on color, etc. If I didn't buy it then I was afraid it would be sold before Monday. It didn't have the $2K tower on it, but it had a 5.7Gi SX Volvo which is a good $4K more than the 5.0 SX. I would definitely look for a new left-over or get a better price on the demo.

As for Volvo v. Merc, the Alpha1 in the Merc is an old design that can only handle 260hp. Anything over 260hp requires an upgrade to the Bravo drive. The Volvo SX unit is a much beefier unit that you can torque without any worries. I wouldn't even look at a Merc anymore.
