I purchased a lightly used 40 hp 4-stroke Mercury outboard last fall. The remote had been disconnected from the 14-pin wiring harness. I am reconnecting the wiring, and have found a darker solid brown (not tan with the blue stripe) wire that doesn't appear to go anywhere, as there is nothing to connect it to. The Mercury wiring color code suggests that it is a for a MerCathode system, that I don't have. I'd greatly appreciate it if someone would tell me if this wire is used in my application, and for what, or if it's something for an option that I don't have.
