Hi,

I'm looking to possibly buy the on top mentioned boat with a 90hp Merc 2 stroke. Does anyone have experience with this particular boat or Sylvan as a manufacturer in general, as well as the engine. Can't find a whole lot of reviews or opinions on the boat or Sylvan on the net.

Appreciate any advice/ opinion.

Can you still buy a 2-stroke? They are not allowed on many bodies of water around the country. Check your local codes before buying that smokie guy.

I'd buy it, but I'm a certified tin-head so take that as you will :D

I'm up in Canada and not sure about the current status of the 2 stroke debate. I might add that it is a optimal and therefore direct fuel injected, and with my current knowledge they have the same carb rating as the equivalent four stroke. Apart from that, the four strokes have far less torque and weigh considerably more.

What about the boat itself, can anyone give insight to quality, experience etc...?

You probably would have gotten more responses in the winter months. Guys are out on the water now (especially tinny owners ;-)

Nobody owns a Sylvan here?

Not to many, nope. There is a Sylvan section down in the manufacturers section. Not sure of the level of activity there.

Re: 2007 Sylvan 1600 Pro Sport

Hi there,

I own a 17' 2010 Sylvan Expedition and am happy with it. Although it is my first boat and I don't have anything to compare it to, I have referred others to buy Sylvan and they are happy with their rigs as well. I believe Starcraft is the parent company.

I see lots of them when I am out on the water. I say go for it. Mine is powered by a 115 4-stroke, so I cannot comment on the motor.

They're good boats, similar to Starcraft and made by the same company.

Sylvans are popular in the Upper Midwest and have been for years. They are good boats with excellent value. It should perform very well with a 90 Merc. Yes - you can still buy a two strokes and it is CARBURETED versions. that are banned in some areas. Mercury OPTIMAX and Evinrude E-TEC are two examples of currently available direct injected two strokes..
