Hey guys,
Getting weak water pressure from my motor so I'm going to change my impeller today but had a question do I need to drain my lower end fluid first....? Reason I'm doing this is I keep getting a overheat alarm so I'm changing the impeller any concerns with changing this in the motor?

No need to drain lower unit fluid/oil.....There are some YouTube instructional videos on water pump replacements that are very helpful....buy the kit with the wear plates, impeller, new bolts, gaskets, etc...

Make sure you put the keyway back in the drive shaft to hold the impeller from slipping on the driveshaft.Your supposed to change your impeller the morning of your first launch, of the season. Put a thin coat of grease on the inside of water pump housing for the first start up,so the rubber doesn't burn before the water gets there to lube and cool.
To be safe, take out the thermostat and put it in warming water, what temp does it open.
The driveshaft turns clockwise looking down at it, make sure the impeller fins are oriented correctly for the clockwise driveshaft.
Test your overheat alarm, what temp does the alarm sound?
