Hello everyone. I've done a lot of research on this problem and can't seem to nail it down. My 50hp 2 stroke started idling poorly when I took it out of storage this year. It was okay all of last year. It only seems to idle poorly in gear (I do a fair amount of trolling). It seems to idle okay in neutral (sits at about 1000 rpm). As the RPM's start to drop while trolling (it will get down to 600-700 rpm), I can squeeze the primer bulb to get it to smooth out a bit and keep it running (the bulb is slightly softened, but not collapsed). It runs great at WOT.
Here's what I've done:
Spark plugs were replaced at the beginning of the season (not for this problem, I replaced before I started it for the first time)
Seafoam in the gas and sprayed down the carb throats.
Gas tank should be turned over on new gas. I run non-ethanol premium.
Replaced the primer bulb
Replaced the fuel filter
Rebuilt the fuel pump.
I have a hard time believing I have to screw around with the idle mixture screws because it ran great last year. I also have a hard time believing I have to rebuild the carbs because it idles okay in neutral and it runs okay at WOT.
Any ideas?
