Got a pair of these on my boat and usually idle at around 550rpm - port motor has now decided to hunt up and down the range between 450 and 1000rpm.
No adverse noise, all plugs and leads seem good, no air leaking etc. No issues further up the range when when running at speed and other with she runs fine, problem only appears at idle and then not all the time. It seems as though the increase/decrease is 'stepped' and not a smooth, linear increase/decrease like you get when operation the throttle.
I've checked the throttle position sensor on top of the throttle body sensor, unplugged and cleaned it and when I move the wires a little I can get the engine to become erratic, also it would appear there is a tiny (but visible) amount of movement on the sensor when applying finger pressure. Cant get the same effect with the other motor.
Have I found the problem? - how sensitive are the senders and why does it not cause a problem on a run only at idle?
Cheers
JJ
