Have a 2008 208 LXi and the thumb screws seem to work their way loose - to the point of falling all the way out , allowing that arm of the bimini to collapse! These are the 1/4 20 screws with the black plastic thumb screw head on them. There is one on either side by the passenger & driver seat where the front bimini mounting brackets are located. Has anyone else had this problem and has anyone found a way to correct it without constantly worrying and tightening?

I purchased a new 2008 Larson LXI 228 last summer. By fall I was noticing the same problem with the same screws. I have the boat in storage now and was going to work on that problem this spring. If I hear of a solution, I'll keep you posted.

I have a 08 228 LXI, I had the same problem when I got my boat. The top actually fell off on my way from the dealer to the boat launch. What I did was put 2 rubber washers on each side of the bimini bracket to reduce vibration ( and unwanted rattling) of the top so the screws would not back them selves out. I also carry a leather man and use the pliers to crank down on the screws. I always check the screws while I am stopped just to be sure but never had them loosen on me. But ever since the 1st time I now check them just out of habit.
This worked for me but if anyone has any better ideas I'm all ears!

Yeah I have the same problem with mine....have been meaning to grab some of those knurled ss washers from work to put under them...however we only use our top a handfull of times a summer when we go down to the lake since I can't back it into the garage with it up and I get tired of taking it down since we hit the river least 3 times a week.

I have a 2009 186 Senza. i have the same problem. I just tighten the heck out of them and check on them at least every 1/2 hour to an hour. I mainly boat on Lake Powell in the summer. it's hot, so I have to keep the top up most of the time.

Would you mind sending me a large size (high resolution) pic of this? I am going to mount a Bimini I just bought to my SEI 180 and I am looking for the right connector to the windshield frame. My email is rokrau AT yahoo DOT com

My buddy puts a drop of Loc-Tite on the threads, and dilutes it with a drop of water. His problem was over, and it did NOT tighten it up so tight that you couldn't remove it either.
