I am consindering buying a 2008 Maxum and the first two things that would be done are the addition of an hour-meter and an electric bilge pump. The hour meter should be fairly simple since it connects to the wires at the ignition switch but for the bilge pump, I will have to run wires from a switch at the dash to the bilge so my question is how are the wires currently run (under the gunwale, under the sole, etc) and how difficult may it be to conceal an additional wire in the loom? I will be looking into a depthfinder as well so there's yet another wire that needs to go from the helm to the bilge area.

Also regarding the bilge pump, is there a need to turn it off? I'm thinking of a float switch in the bilge and a switch on the dash so I can run it whenever I want/need in case the float stops working or gets stuck. Does anyone know if there is a battery switch so I can shut down the whole electrical system at once when she comes out of the water?

Thanks in advance.

I found the answer to one of my questions... The "manual bilge pump" is an electric pump that I have to turn on from the switch on the dash. Simple enough, I'll just add the float switch straight from the battery to the pump (with a fuse) and be done with it. Eventually, when I add the second battery and switch, I'll wire it to the switch so it turns off when the batteries are off.
