2008 Mercruiser 4.3 Carb Overhaul / Rebuild Questions

I have been having a problem while on the water once the boat is started and I give it a little gas it wants to die but if I gas on it and give it a lot of gas it will get up and go. Once I stop and its in neutral it idols real low like it wants to die. I got the boat in January and it had full tank of gas so I don't know if it had ethanol in it, but I have ran nothing but ethanol free gas in it the last couple time we been out. My buddy who is a mechanic says I prolly have carb problems and told me if I take mine off he would clean it out and put new carb kit on it.

My question is can I get a kit for the 4.3 at a local parts store or do I need to get a mercuery / marine grade one?

Is there anything else I might need to get check or work or replace while I have the carb. off if you think the carb is not my problem?

Most likely a carb rebuild will do the trick as long as it is done right.

Being you have a mercruiser turn key start carburetor, you'll want to buy a kit from mercruiser to ensure you have the right fit the first time around. Merc carburetor repair kit part number 3302-804844002.
