2008 Tohatsu 40HP restrictor plate?

Can someone please tell me the differences in a 2008 TLDI 40hp and 50hp? I would like to know if there would be any benefit in removing the restrictor plate in the air intake. I know the 50hp does not have this plate and wonder if that is the only difference in the two engines. Thanks!

It's not the only difference. It isn't cost effective to try and convert it.

Thanks for the info. Would there be any adverse affects to removing the restrictor plate? It looks like more air would be better. Is there also a differance in the exhaust?
