Had my boat 4rys today my tach full throttle went 7000rpm normal 5300 engine sounded normal at idle it’s 1000 read to check volt regulator sure enough wires melted replaced regulator soldered wires together took out same wot 7000tpms volt gauge reads13v but at wot I trim the engine the rpms drop to 5300 once I stop trim adjustment went back to 7000 is it poissble the heat st regulator took out the stator

Check the yellow wires out of the regulator / rectifier. They melt at the bayonet connection. Causes eratic tachometer readings and popping through the exhaust on the pipe .

Well, you already did that. I reread post. Again. Sorry for jumping the gun. I am also trying to deal with the same problem on my 75hp. Same block. I'll be watching this to see how it goes. I have a regulator coming as well.
