I just recently installed my SmartCraft gateway with a Navman 4380 fishfinder. Everything is working correctly with the exception of the speed readout. My boat doesn't have a speed gauge on it, and the Navman reports my speed only at low speeds by using the paddle wheel that came with the fishfinder.

I did see the following error today via the smarcraft Engine History "fault with pitot speed sensor". I was told that some Optimax engines do not come with a Pitot - not sure if this is accrurate or not. When I set the Smartcraft to use the Pitot vs the paddle wheel, and set the PSI to 100, nothing shows.

Am I doing something wrong or is my pitot clogged?

Thanks!

Re: 2009 Optimax 90HP - SmartCraft

i have a 2008 75 optimax that i placed the smartcraft on as well. I was getting the same reading. I called Mercury and they told me that the 75/90/115 models do not have a pitot sensor. You can purchase on separate. i would just set your smartcraft gauges to use the GPS speed(if you have it) it's more accurate anyway.

hope this helps.
