2009 Tracker Pro Guide V-16 SC w/ Mercury 50hp 4-stroke

These test are performed in the Gulf of Mexico with just me (180 pounds) and about 100 pounds of fishing gear. I always launch with a full tank of gas.
I'll add more as I try to figure out which prop works best for me and this boat.
I'm not going into details, just RPM's and top speed.
I was very disappointed in the Apollo Prop and who I got it from, Deep Blue Yacht Supply. I will not be shopping with them again.

So far the best one is the Mercury BlackMaxXT 10.75X12P OEM#48-816702A40.

Mercury BlackMaxXT 10.5 X 13P = 5400 @ 31mph
Mercury BlackMaxXT 10.75 X 12P = 6000 @ 34.5mph
Michigan Apollo 10.75 X 12P = 5300 @ 32mph

mileage will vary from fresh to saltwater. water density being different between them.

good info. but why would you be disapointed by the lower rpms to attain a faster speed that would seem to me to be a better result than the other two. i would think you want more performance at the lowest rpm you can get saves wear on the motor. but im not that much of a gear head.

I have heard running a motor over-propped like that causes it to run rich and can lead to overheating problems.
Makes sense to me.

i just tend to stick with what the manufacturer put on the boat. i do the same with my car and truck. 1 or 2 mph at the max end isnt enough to warrant changes like that to me. but im a performance nub and know that i personally shouldnt go messing with such things. just having my vehicles work is usually enough for me

Yes.I never understood why people would take a brand new boat and replace the prop.What do you think you are going to get from the money spent on a new prop,or two or even three.Sounds ridiculas to me.I will keep my prop and maybe come up on you 1 or 2 minutes later,but,I will have better fishing rods and maybe a couple beers with that saved money,lol.Just my .02 cents.

should get an extra prop. never know when your gonna have to change one on a trip. i keep a extra prop tools spare nuts etc. in a tupperware in the main deck storage. never know when your gonna smack a rock or submerged object. props can be changed in the water if your slick enough and the weather is warm enough and the shore is far enough away
