200hp Evinrude Won't go in Gear sometimes

My '93 200hp Evinrude occasionally has problems getting out of neutral and into gear (either forward or reverse). I had a similar problem last season, and ended up having the lower unit rocker arm(?) replaced after I was told the lower unit had water in it. Am I having the same problem again? I only use the boat on weekends and I've never run aground, this shouldn't happen, right? Or could this be a new problem?

Zipp-<br />Probably a long shot, but I just had the same problem on my 74 115. I don't know how your shift rod is attached to the linkage on your engine, but I found my pivot bolt on the shift rod linkage had backed out. At first my shifting was sporatic. Sometimes it would shift, sometimes not. I guess when the pivot bolt backed out even farther, the linkage came off the shift rod. I was done! Might be worth looking at, who knows!
