hi everyone....recently rebuilt a 200hp merc with hori. reeds when the motor is running idleing you can hear a faint clicking noise inside the block when using a stethascope.......could this be the reed valves?.....this motor has only ran for about an hour since a complete rebuild..possibly everthing has to be broke in as far as the rings seated or? anyone have any ideas.I have never heard a 2 stroke running up close so i don't know if this is normal.

Who rebuilt the motor? If it was a repair shop...is there a warranty consideration?

Re: 200hp merc

It could be wrist pins, crank bearings, reeds slapping. But if ya gotta listen to it with the stethoscope, it's probly just a Merc. Follow the breakin instructions, and listen for it to get worse. If it does,of course, something is amiss.
