There is an excessive amount of black stains coming from the aft section of the cowling around the "tell-tale". This condition seems to be getting worse as time goes on. Also note that initially the alarm horn would sound a high frequency "chirping" sound (about 3 times per second) at low speed. I thought that might be a defective alarm horn since all else seemed to be fine. I actally got in the habit of removing the ground wire from the horn whenever I would be trolling! The last time out however, the alarm sounded continuously after running near WOT for about five mins. The alarm would sound whenever the key was on regardless if the engine was running or not. Removing the ground wire from the horn made no difference!!?? Finally removed the tan wire and that quieted the horn. Also note that the engine would run rough when the alarm would sound. Wonder if the problem could be related to a fuel pressure problem, overheat problem, or some combination??

Disconnect the wiring from the oil tank to the motor. I think you will find that the false alarms will not sound anymore because you probably have bad electronics in the oil level sensor module. You can either leave the oil level wiring disconnected and watch the oil tank level visually, or pay about $70 for a new oil pickup assembly.

Thanks Seahorse. I will give that a try... any ideas on the excessive black stains coming from the ports next to the tell-tale?
